Mobile Service at Your Location + Indoor Calibration Facility
Your windshield is a structural part of your car. Federal safety standards require it to stay bonded to the body in a crash (FMVSS 212) so occupants aren’t ejected, and it helps the roof resist crushing in a rollover (FMVSS 216). It also backs the passenger airbag. A proper replacement is about much more than a clear view.
A windshield that looks perfectly fine can still be installed badly — the wrong adhesive, a rushed cure, a camera left out of calibration. You won’t notice on the drive home. You’d notice in a rollover, or the first time automatic emergency braking needs to fire.
Most modern vehicles — a Honda Odyssey, a Toyota Sienna, almost anything with a forward camera — need ADAS recalibration once the glass is replaced, and most automakers require it. Skipped or done poorly, the camera can be left aimed where the road no longer is, so braking or lane-keep assist reacts late, or not at all.
We replace the glass to FMVSS spec and recalibrate in a controlled indoor facility.
We stock glass for the models we see most often, so for common vehicles there’s usually no waiting days for parts. We install at your home or workplace during business hours. When your car needs indoor calibration, we pick it up, do the work, and return it — usually the same day, at no extra charge — and we handle the insurance claim from filing through final billing.
Day to day we replace glass on Honda, Toyota, Subaru, and Nissan family cars and SUVs, plus luxury models from Lexus, Acura, Mercedes, and BMW that carry advanced camera systems.
Mobile service suits vehicles with no advanced systems, or with dynamic calibration that’s completed on a road drive. We bring the same equipment and materials we’d use at the shop, and most installs run 60–90 minutes anywhere in Ocean County (NJ) or Rockland County (NY).
Mobile install plus indoor calibration is required for most Toyota, Honda, and Subaru models that need static calibration against fixed targets. We install at your location, bring the car to our facility for the calibration, and return it the same day in most cases — with no charge for the pickup and delivery.
Not sure which one your vehicle needs? We check using your VIN before anything gets scheduled. Our guide to ADAS systems by brand breaks it down by manufacturer.
On most vehicles built since roughly 2018, the forward camera for automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control looks out through the windshield. Move the glass and you move the camera’s reference point. AEB cuts rear-end crashes by about 50% (IIHS), and lane-departure warning lowers the injury crashes among lane-drift collisions by roughly 21% — but only while that camera is aimed correctly. A sensor off by 2–3 millimeters can miss its target by several feet at stopping distance.
That’s why we calibrate every car that needs it and document the result. The full walk-through of static versus dynamic calibration lives on our ADAS page.
Call Geico, Allstate, or most major insurers about a windshield and you’ll likely be routed into Safelite’s system, which is built to steer you toward their own shops. You’re not required to go there; you can choose your installer. We file the claim, handle the back-and-forth, and bill the insurer directly, so the redirect stops being your problem.
A windshield carries real structural load. Under FMVSS 216 it helps the roof resist crushing in a rollover, it’s the surface the passenger airbag inflates against, and its laminated construction helps keep occupants inside the car during a collision. None of that holds if the bond is wrong.
Our installs use OEM-grade urethane adhesive to manufacturer spec, and we respect the adhesive’s safe-drive-away time instead of rushing the cure — that bond is what makes the glass structural. Every job meets Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and comes with full documentation for your warranty and insurance. If you want the deeper version, see our explainer on auto glass technology and safety.
We file and navigate the insurance claim, including the Safelite redirect, verify and document ADAS calibration coverage, bill your provider directly, and back the work with a lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship.
“Certain sensor calibrations that my vehicle needed (something Safelite wasn't willing to do)”
“One third of the price that the dealership wanted”
“They arrived at my house promptly, making the whole process incredibly convenient”
Our freeze-thaw winters turn a small chip into a full replacement fast: water works into the crack, freezes, expands, and spreads it — so it pays to deal with damage before the cold sets in. Summer does the opposite kind of harm. A car parked in 80°F sun can pass 120°F inside, and that expansion drives an existing crack longer. Storm season brings the hail and highway debris that crack glass outright.
